DIY Bisquick

I love the convenience of Bisquick and Jiffy’s all purpose baking mix.  The other day I was going to be making chicken pot pie and needed a baking mix to make the biscuit topping and I didn’t have much more than a 1/2 cup left.  I had remembered seeing some DIY Bisquick pins on Pinterest so I headed there and found this one. It is SO easy and quick to make, and it made up some amazing biscuit topping for my pot pie.


  • 5 cups of all purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butter flavored shortening (or butter)


In a stand mixer, by hand mixer, or in a food processor, blend all the ingredients until combined and crumbly.  Store in an air tight container for up to 6 weeks.

If you use butter you will need to store it in the fridge or in the freezer.  I use the shortening and keep it in the pantry with all my other baking items.
